Wedding photography FAQ
The useful answers, without making you hunt for them.
Photography style, who shows up, film, timelines, delivery, weather, travel, and what happens after you inquire.
01Who will photograph our wedding?
Helena and Laurent photograph weddings together and separately. The proposal will make the team clear. Both work inside the same planning, visual, and editing standards, so the choice is about the scale of coverage rather than ranking one photographer above the other.
02Do you photograph film or digital?
Both. Digital is the base for speed, range, and complete coverage. Film can be added for its texture, color, restraint, and physical quality. We use each where it contributes something.
03What is your photography style?
No awkward posing and no scripts. Documentary and photojournalistic attention sits at the center, with clear editorial direction when it helps. We focus on real moments as they unfold and make room for people to be fully present, so the photographs feel honest, beautiful, and specific to them.
04What does wedding photography cost?
Current Bay Area starting points run from focused City Hall coverage through complete two-photographer wedding coverage. The pricing page shows the current hours, image minimums, and starting prices; your proposal is where travel, unusual logistics, and optional additions are made exact.
05Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Zero-interest payment plans are available. The proposal shows the reservation payment and schedule clearly before anything is signed.
06Do we need one photographer or two?
For weddings with about 115 guests or more, we strongly recommend two photographers. Two also help when important events happen at the same time, people get ready separately, or the day moves between locations. Creatively, one photographer can protect the essential frame while the other takes a risk or follows the less obvious moment.
07How many photographs will we receive?
The minimum depends on coverage: at least 50 finished photographs per hour with one photographer and 75 per hour with two. Current collections range from 75 images for focused City Hall coverage to 750 for a ten-hour, two-photographer wedding. Those are minimums rather than caps, and complete galleries are often larger.
08When will we receive the photographs?
Your proposal and contract will contain the current delivery window. We also create a slideshow and online gallery designed to make the sequence easy to experience and share.
09How do you keep our photographs safe?
File safety begins before the wedding with tested equipment, working spares, and dual-card capture. Afterward, original cards remain intact while verified working and backup copies are created, including an off-site copy. The finished gallery is checked before delivery, and couples receive a separate guide for maintaining their own long-term archive.
10Can we have the RAW files?
The delivered photographs are the finished work: selected, color-corrected, and prepared at full resolution. RAW files are working materials rather than the final archive, so they are not normally part of delivery.
11How much retouching do you do?
Every delivered photograph receives the color, exposure, and finishing needed to belong in the complete gallery. Minor temporary blemishes can be handled naturally. Extensive body, clothing, object, or background changes are separate retouching work and can be quoted when needed.
12What does your editing look like?
We want deep, believable color, considered black and white, beautiful skin, and enough consistency for film and digital to live in one story. The photographs should feel authored without looking as though one filter was placed over every kind of light.
13Do you travel?
Yes. Local collections are designed around the Bay Area and Northern California, and destination proposals account for the actual travel and coverage the gathering needs.
14Can we see full weddings?
Yes. The Love Stories section contains complete narratives from City Hall, Marin, San Francisco, the coast, redwoods, Wine Country, private homes, and destinations.
15Do you help with the timeline?
Yes. We focus on the parts that affect experience and photographs: travel, light, ceremony, family groups, room changes, weather, meals, and how much time the couple is away from guests.
16What if we are uncomfortable in front of a camera?
That is normal. The person you chose to marry is usually the person who already makes you feel most like yourself. We return your attention to each other, give clear direction when it helps, and keep enough movement in the session that you are not left performing a pose.
17Do you photograph family and wedding-party groups?
Yes. Candid coverage and organized family photographs are not opposites. We use a concise relationship-based list, clear direction, and—ideally—one person who knows everyone to keep the formal groups useful and efficient.
18Do we need a first look?
No. A first look is useful when it solves a timeline or gives you time together before the ceremony. It should not be added automatically or staged as an emotional requirement.
19What happens if it rains or gets foggy?
We make a practical plan for people and equipment, then allow the conditions to remain part of the story. Weather often gives Bay Area and coastal work its atmosphere.
20Do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings?
Absolutely. Names, pronouns, families, chosen families, clothing, traditions, and portrait direction should fit the people involved rather than inherited gender roles or assumptions about what a wedding is supposed to look like.
21Do you photograph elopements and San Francisco City Hall weddings?
Yes. Focused City Hall coverage, elopements, and small weddings have dedicated collections, planning guides, and complete stories. Small does not mean visually slight.
22Do you photograph family and maternity sessions?
Yes. Family work is a substantial part of the studio, especially in Marin. Sessions can happen at home, on the coast, in the redwoods, or somewhere already connected to the family.
23Can we order prints and a wedding album?
Yes. The private gallery includes full-resolution downloads and a fine-art print shop. We also design Vision Art albums with full-grain leather, optional gold embossing, archival pigment printing, and panoramic lay-flat spreads.
24Do you have a photobooth?
Yes. The open-air booth uses professional light and a DSLR, leaves room for large groups, includes a dedicated attendant, and makes physical prints during the reception.
25Where can we read client reviews and see accolades?
The Client Reviews page summarizes independently posted Google and Yelp reviews with the source and date visible. The About and accolades material adds third-party editorial recognition without making awards the center of the work.
26How do we reserve a date?
Begin with the inquiry. We will confirm availability, learn the shape of the plan, recommend coverage, and send a proposal with the current collection, agreement, and payment schedule.
