The experience matters more than the photo shoot.
We solve the photography without asking the wedding to revolve around us.
Meet Helena + Laurent

We are a husband-and-wife team, parents, and longtime Marin locals. The studio grew alongside our family and still feels personal because it is.
This is a personal business by design. You speak with us, plan with us, and we shape the coverage together. We give clear direction when it helps, but we do not script people or ask them to perform their relationships for the camera. The focus stays on real moments as they unfold and on people being fully present inside them.
Our work combines documentary attention, clear editorial judgment, and the distinct qualities of film and digital photography.
Tell us about your plansHow we work
One photographer may stay close to the emotional center while the other sees what is developing across the room. That difference in perspective is useful because the final work is edited toward the same standards rather than divided into competing styles.
We plan, photograph, and edit toward one shared point of view. Whoever is holding the camera, the promise is the same: calm preparation, clear judgment, and a complete story that feels like it belongs to the people in it.

We solve the photography without asking the wedding to revolve around us.
Composition, light, film, color, and print craft matter. So do the people at the edge of the frame.
Clear expectations, realistic timing, and direct guidance create more room for everyone to be present.
Outside the work

Loves time with friends and family, growing California native plants and food, and noticing every bee, butterfly, and tiny visitor that finds the garden.
Loves cooking for people, weightlifting, motorcycles, and psychology—the practical and emotional mechanics of how people move through the world together.
Our own wedding was a garden party made by friends and family. Then, months later, we realized we had never signed the papers and photographed the legal sequel ourselves in Las Vegas.

Skin should look beautiful. Light should still feel like the light that was there. Color and black and white should carry the mood without making the wedding feel stark, raw, or overworked.
This is a large part of the work: shaping thousands of changing frames into one coherent story, with enough craft to print and enough restraint to remain honest.

The photographs we make for ourselves
Personal work shows what we notice when there is no assignment: family, strangers, weather, movement, and the parts of a trip nobody could have staged.

Our photographs have been recognized by Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars, Junebug Weddings, Best of the Bay, Best of Marin, Huffington Post, My Modern Met, BuzzFeed, Green Wedding Shoes, Offbeat Bride, and others.
Awards helped establish the studio. We eventually stepped away from pursuing them so attention could return to the people, experience, editing, printing, and the long life of the work.
