Reserve the license and ceremony separately.
A license authorizes the marriage; the ceremony completes it. Booking one does not automatically reserve the other. Review the current County Clerk scheduler, required identification, refund rules, and appointment availability before arranging photography or travel.

Leave real time between same-day appointments.
Check-in, security, lines, document review, and movement through the building create variability. Do not place the ceremony immediately after the license appointment. A buffer protects the vows from a paperwork delay.
Remember the license expires.
California marriage licenses are valid for a limited period after issuance; the current San Francisco reservation information states 90 days. Schedule issuance close enough to the ceremony and verify current rules directly before relying on the date.

Use official fees as live facts.
County Clerk prices can change by fiscal year and may differ between the public fee schedule and the reservation system because of processing charges. Treat the scheduler as the purchase total, display a verification date, and link the source beside any amount.
