Bay Area maternity photographer

Maternity photographs that still feel like your life.

A candid black and white maternity photograph

Maternity can be quiet, physical, funny, tender, individual, or full of the family you already have. We make room for all of it instead of asking pregnancy to become a costume.

Sessions can happen at home, on the Marin coast, in the redwoods, or in San Francisco. We plan around comfort, walking, weather, children, light, and how much energy feels realistic.

How we photograph it

Clear direction at the beginning. Room for movement, personality, closeness, and the parts nobody could have planned.

A session built around real life

Useful planning, with room for what cannot be planned.

01

Choose a place that asks less of you.

Home can hold the ordinary details of this season. The coast, redwoods, or a familiar neighborhood can make room for walking and air. The right answer is the setting where you can move comfortably and stop thinking about performing pregnancy for a camera.

02

The family already here belongs in the story.

A partner, older children, pets, and the routines that have changed around the pregnancy are not secondary material. We make organized photographs when they are useful, then let attention, humor, touch, and interruptions show what this moment actually feels like.

03

Direction should make the photograph easier.

We help with light, clothes, where to stand, and what to do with hands. Then we give the frame enough time to become yours. The goal is beautiful skin and considered composition without turning the session into an hour of holding unfamiliar poses.

04

Build one complete record of the season.

A strong maternity gallery does not need every frame to announce pregnancy. It can hold the house, a walk, older children, the relationship between partners, and the quieter details of a body changing. We deliver enough range for an album or a small group of prints, including photographs that will matter differently after the baby arrives. The ordinary context becomes part of the family history.

Planning questions

The practical details before the photographs.

When should we schedule maternity photographs?

Many sessions happen late enough for the pregnancy to read clearly but early enough that movement still feels comfortable. There is no universal week: health, energy, weather, location, and whether other children are involved matter more than a fixed formula.

Do we need special maternity clothes?

No. Clothes should give you room to move and still feel recognizable as yours. Texture, shape, and a simple palette can help, but a session does not need a rented gown or a costume to feel intentional.

Can this become a family session too?

Yes. We can make individual maternity photographs, photographs with a partner, and a fuller family story in the same session without dividing the experience into rigid parts.
